New edition of German Buildings Energy Act demands energy efficient and intelligent buildings

Auerbach. As of January 1st, 2024 the new Buildings Energy Act which regulates the legal requirements in Germany for buildings with regards to energy efficiency, became effective. With the new edition of the law, building automation is getting more importance. One possibility to reduce the costs for installation and maintenance of the required automation systems are wireless solutions.

ZF presents at Light+Building in Frankfurt (3rd March to 8th March 2024, Hall 9.0, booth no. E21) various batteryfree and wireless applications for building automation.

The required energy is generated based on the energy harvesting technology from ZF. By the mechanical actuation of switch sufficient energy is produced to transmit a RF protocol. The most important element of the ZF energy harvesting technology is a very compact generator (20.1 x 7.3 x 14.3 mm which is a resource-saving alternative to battery powered and wired switches. Due to its size, the energy harvester is suitable for a variety of applications and therefore individual customer requirements can be fulfilled. By the combination of the ZF Energy Harvester with certified RF standards such as EnOcean®, KNX® or Bluetooth®, the interoperability and networking with other components in the building automation system are possible.
