NEW MODULAR SENSOR SYSTEM Discount store model is the driving force for new modular system for speed sensors from CHERRY

Auerbach / OPf, Germany, 13th May 2013 – Now available from CHERRY Industrial Solutions is a new modular system for speed sensors. The idea stems from the discount store model: The customer can choose from several predefined configurations, which can be manufactured quickly. Comments Arno Erzberger, Product Manager at CHERRY: “Predefined samples for testing are available at short notice”.

Thanks to standard elements and interfaces the sensors allow a variety of customized solutions.

The electrical connection of the sensors is possible via 2-wire, 3- wire, or 4-wire interfaces. The components can be contacted via wire leads or plug-in connector. The cylindrical housing is available with diameters starting as of 10 mm and with a length starting as of 25 mm. The screw connection is very flexible in regards to type of jack, jack diameters, position/angle and alignment of the fixture.

The speed sensors have been designed for an operating temperature range from -40°C up to +150°C and the housing meets at least IP67 specifications.

Depending on the target object, the sensors are designed as single- hall-solutions for coarse geometric structures or as different-hall- solution for delicate geartooth structures. The evaluation with regards to the specific application requirements will be supported by CHERRY upon request. Based on the speed sensors from the modular system, also fully customized versions are available. “Standard products in low quantities are available from stock and for customized versions of the speed sensors we have a lead time of 9 months after design freeze”, says Jana Schramm, Junior Product Manager at CHERRY.

Modular systems for displacement and angle sensors from CHERRY are currently in development.
